Nix Belly Bloat With These 11 Tips

Belly bloat happens, and it's really not fair or nice or wonderful. Despite all of your best efforts, hormones are hormones are life are life. Whether it's because you ate too much, are experiencing some wicked PMS, or your gut health isn't 100%, it's hard to feel comfortable with a bloated body. Luckily, there are some easy, natural ways to combat the bloat and prevent that dark slide to vegetation mode on the couch (though that definitely has its place).

With these 11 tips, you'll find yourself on the path back to normal in no time.

1.
First and foremost, water water water.

2.
Unless your bloating is due to an increase in fiber intake,
choose quinoa or brown rice over other grains.

3.
Add natural diuretics into your diet like
celery, parsley, pineapple, grapes, cucumbers, asparagus, etc.

4.
Use rosemary, turmeric, mint, ginger, and basil.
Especially mint and ginger.

5.
Choose potassium rich foods like
bananas, sweet potatoes, and peas.

6.
Befriend lemons.
Add them to water with apple cider vinegar.

7.
Chia seeds are even more awesome than their pet form.
Add a tablespoon to a tall glass of water to make chia fresca.
Add a squeeze of lemon juice if you're extra daring.

8.
Get a massage to stimulate circulation.

9.
Or dry brush for an at-home way to
stimulate circulation and the lymphatic system.

10.
Exercise boosts your serotonin levels and
helps keep you regulated and well-circulated.

11.
Chew mindfully.
Try chewing, lips closed, for 15 chews before swallowing.

These are a small list of ways to debloat when you're feeling uncomfortable and are by no means exhaustive. Start small, and notice the changes happening within your body. I suggest keeping a journal with some notes on whether or not the tip worked with the food or situation that caused it -- if you can remember. This way, you know what to turn to next time it happens.

Remeber, even when you are bloated, you are still beautiful. Your size doesn't determine your worth. On the flip side, I get it. It feels like you aren't yourself in your own skin, and the mental strength it takes to stay positive isn't so easily accessible. Deep breath, babe. You got this.
