Weekend Snapshot 1.30.17

I swear it was Friday five minutes ago...

RECAP:
Every day this past week, it felt like the news became more and more grim. Donald Trump closed the nation to refugees and predominately Muslim countries. In fact, he did a lot last week - here's a snapshot. People are continuing to protestand a resist banner popped up near the White House.

In happier news, The New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons are going to SuperBowl LI on Sunday. 'Happier' is clearly relative, since I'm still salty over the Steelers' loss. Activated charcoal worked its way into my diet last week in an incredible lemonade -- didn't see that coming! I snagged this cute dress for my niece and am going gaga over all of Dellie's puppy pictures and wanting another one (should I do it?!).

THREE FAVORITE WEEKEND THINGS:
1. The best water tracking app: Waterlogged
2. Hawaiian themed parties.
3. Rewatching my favorite episodes of You're the Worst.

THIS WEEK:
This week we're getting back into yoga with YogaGlo; setting resolutions and intentions (and writing about why I waited until February); and experimenting with fun cocktail recipes for Valentine's Day.

+ How was your weekend? What are you up to this week?

This Just In: Mini Bags

Not the simple cross-body anymore.

The first small bag I had that wasn't a tiny plastic one from my childhood was a teal, fake leather cross-body with a pretty clasp and gold chain. I picked up at the close-out sale of the television series One Tree Hill. It continues to be one of my favorite bags, probably because of the memories of the day purchasing it, but also because it was functional, stylish, and compact unlike my larger, slouchier bags. With the resurgence of the mini bag coming back in shapes other than a perfect rectangle, I couldn't help but pull together some of my favorites below. Plus - most, if not all, are under $100!

A mini satchel bag for casual days out. Perfect with classic denim and a slouchy sweater.

A little edgy, a little classic, this bag is perfect for a night out with the girls. Pair with high wasted black denim, a muscle tee (with enough room in the arms to show a little lacy bra) tucked into the front, and suede pumps.

This bag kind of reminds me of a brown paper lunch bag, so I'm calling this perfect for the office. Pair it with palazzo pants, a fitted turtleneck, and kitten heels.

I actually have a larger saddle bag similar to this mini one, and absolutely love it. It's perfect for polishing a casual look. Read: torn jeans and a striped shirt with flats.

There's something about faux fur for a fun night out. Pair with a black dress (long or short) and your favorite strappy heels.

Pair this bold colored mini bag with pixie pants and a chambray shirt or an off the shoulder, cotton dress.

Love the textures and small details of this bag. Perfect with black pants and a flowy white blouse.

+Which do you want to buy the most right now? I'm obsessed with the mini satchel bag.

Weekend Snapshot 1.22.17

Whatta weekend.

RECAP:
This weekend was not a normal weekend by any event. Donald Trump was inaugurated Friday. Millions of men and women organized in the Women's March on Saturday. It started an interesting stream of consciousness from Trump. Saturday I wore jeans for the first time since April 2016 (!!!) in solidarity for the small wins for women during the 60s. We'll see what this week brings us! In other news, tonight decides for us who goes to Super Bowl 51: another year, another bowl game, another great excuse to watch hyped up football, eat too much food, and cry over the latest Budweiser commercial (my favorite from 2014).

THREE FAVORITE WEEKEND THINGS:
1.  R.S.V.P. Champagne (from Trader Joe's, natch) with my best.
2.  My black jeans from AE.
3.  Seasons 1 & 2 of Shameless (U.S.).

THIS WEEK:
This week I'll be eating a lentil salad inspired by this one; modeling my style after my favorite style icon right now; and reading Celebrate by LC for party inspiration.

+ How was your weekend? Did you march or stay in? What are you up to this week?
